Study Camp

INFO: Overnight Program. 4 days/3 Nights. Monday – Thursday. Grades 11-12 . Male and Female. Extra Cost: $100

The Study Camp is a program for Year 12 (and Year 11) which gives students an opportunity to continue to spend time with a large group of their peers, get lots of work and study done in a different and beautiful environment, spend evenings chatting by the campfire and telling stories and sharing experiences, be challenged by short sessions that support and/or grow your study habits, improve your well being, make you more productive and encourage you spiritually.

Time will be spent each day in work and study sessions where students will have have a choice of time to work on assignments or study, have support from a range of teachers or join in sessions focusing on particular subjects, study techniques, habits, well being and tips for improving the use of your study time.

The Study Camp also has options for a morning walk, some fishing off the wharf before breakfast and some physical activities – all helping to get to know or get closer to your peers and teachers and experience a(nother) beautiful part of wider Sydney.

The Study Camp is a program (modified from 2018) that really allows you, the students, to:

  • focus in on the work you are required to do
  • continue (or create) effective study routines
  • ensure you make progress in your assessments
  • improve the standard of your work/assessments

This program acknowledges that the time frame for SOW (Week 4 of Term 2) means it is closer to the due dates for a number of their assessment tasks – therefore providing valuable support for our senior students.

The camp will be held at the beautiful Rathane (and Telford) campsite which are part of the YouthWorks site located in the Royal National Park. Listed by the National Trust, Rathane retains the historic charm of the original homestead, whilst including many of the modern conveniences we’d expect to make our stay comfortable. The campsite has an unparalleled view looking straight down the Port Hacking River and there’s  plenty of wide open space to enjoy sports, sitting, relaxing and studying.

There are a variety of study rooms, from small rooms near the wharf to the main meeting room which has a scenic water outlook. Bushwalks, campfires and relaxing verandahs are also part of the Study Camp experience.

Please note that this program is a customised program for NBCS, and while the school contributes the majority of funds towards it, due to the expensive nature of this particular site and the transport arrangements, a $100 surcharge is necessary.
